Wellness Advent 2025: week four - small moves, big gains

exercise·Sarah Parker·Jan 22, 2026· 2 minutes

What I wanted with this advent calendar was to give you small moves that had a big effect on your body

So focusing on your breathing, your feet and your head will have multiple positive health benefits

For the final three days I have chosen a few independent small moves that do more than you think!

We start with calf raises - which can help with balance, strength, circulation, metabolism, lymph, mobility and joint health!

Day 22: Calf Raises

Day 23: Bouncing Circuit

Another small but mighty move is bouncing - and this is where your calf raises can come in again I do little heel bounces every morning as part of my lymph circulation routine - it's also a really good way to wake you up and give you a burst of energy!

The impact of your heels on the floor is also good for bones.  It's a great start point to build up to jumping if you're not quite there yet

This circuit will give you a few options for bouncing or jumping - whichever is your level Feel free to repeat up to 4 times for a full workout! (Make sure you warm up and cool down)

Day 24: Vagus Nerve for Relaxation

One of the biggest things we can do to impact our health is to work on stress relief - that's why sweaty workouts, breathing exercises and releases have been central to this advent calendar and indeed central to all I do/teach Being able to find small things that you can quickly do during the day to rebalance your nervous system is also key So today we'll use the ear to stimulate the vagus nerve (the biggest nerve involved in the rest and digest side of your body) - helping with relaxation and calm
